The luxury beach community is home to many lavish resorts, five stars hotels and holiday charters. Its beach is renowned for sport fishing, sailing and surfing opportunities. Enjoy spectacular sunset vistas from the clean shores, indulge in delicious Costa Rican cuisines and spend your holiday in absolute leisure.

The beach, Playa Garza, is a very secluded place. It features outside and inside reef breaks that peel to both directions. The waves are inconsistent and unreliable but when the tide is high, the waves are known to get chest high and bigger. When swells from southwest and south are 2 feet overhead, the northern and southern ends of the shore offer best waves to ride especially at low to mid tide. Playa Garza is hardly ever crowded because of its irregular waves, but if you happen to be in the area, the beach is worth to stop by.

Surf Camps

Playa Garza is located close to Nosara which is quite popular among the surfers. You will find a large number of surf schools and camps. Various hotels and yoga retreats can arrange surf expeditions for guests on requests. The camps have awesome deals and packages, and some even offer accommodations and transport. Some of the renowned surf camps in the city are Nosara Tico Surf School, Nosara Surf Academy, Safari Surf School, Surf Diva School, and Surf Simply.

Other Activities and Accommodations

Besides surfers, other vacationers can have a serene getaway at Playa Garza. The small beach community is a fabulous hideaway with a lot to offer. Sip on a cocktail while witnessing an amazing sunset vista from the beach, have a leisurely picnic with your loved ones, take a romantic stroll on the moonlit beach or daydream while relaxing in a hammock. Playa Garza lets you indulge in tranquil pleasure. For a more animated time, go horseback riding on the beach, snorkel, dive surf the waves, catch some fishes and go sailing. Moreover, just off the beach, sports such as zip lining in the forest, river kayaking in the Rio Nosara and bird watching tours are also quite popular. For accommodations, Playa Garza Hotel is highly recommended. It is located right on the beach of Garza and offers it guests with lavish accommodations with great amenities such as wireless internet, air conditioner, fans, hot water supply, laundry service, private parking spot, hammocks and so much more. The hotel also has a spacious restaurant with a lively bar that serves a variety of scrumptious cuisines and drinks. Outdoor features include ocean panoramas, a vast swimming pool and an immaculate garden.

Description

Playa Guiones is a splendid white sand beach in Nosara stretching over a span of 7 kilometers. Housing Nosara’s most popular hotels and restaurants, Playa Guiones is an ideal beach for tourists. The weather is superb, the shores clean and waves strong and smooth. Nosara has many amazing surf destinations but most surf enthusiasts who visit the town for surfing go straight for Playa Guiones. The surf spot is known to have one of the most consistent waves in Costa Rica. It features a beach break that peels to the right and left over a sandy bottom. The beach break has multiple peaks all along the shoreline. During the low tides, the waves are more steep and fast perfect for short boarders while during the mid to high tides, the waves are smooth so the long boarders will have a fine time. On good days, the waves ride to a long distance reaching up to 300 meters. The waves are gentle and smooth which makes them perfect for beginners and intermediate surfers. The southern end of the beach is best for beginners. Seasoned surfers won’t be disappointed either. The surf spot is quite fun to ride and on good days when big swells are picked up, the waves can even provide a nice challenge. The beach break is sometimes called ‘the beginner’s spot’ which is not so accurate. Even though the bottom is sandy and waves small, extreme caution should be taken when the swells get too huge as they cause the waves to become powerful and strong with many rip currents and undertows. During such conditions the beach break gets potentially dangerous for novices.

Commonly referred to as a ‘swell magnet’, Playa Guiones gathers swells from both northern and southern hemispheres. The size of swells starts working at 1.0 meters to 1.5 meters and holds up to 10 feet. The wind blows from the east. During the dry season (from November to April), offshore wind blows in the morning creating the best platform for surfing. The months of December and January bring offshore winds that blow throughout the day. During the rainy season, the waves get big size but less consistent and quite sloppy. Playa Guiones is hardly ever crowded so surfers can ride the waves in peace.

Description

Nosara is a beach town situated on the Nicoya Peninsula in Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica. Nosara is one of oldest fishing communities of Costa Rica and even though it is a popular holiday destination, it lacks any direct development and still has its Blue Flag status. The shores have a large population of Olive Ridley and Leatherback Turtles that resulted in a formation of Ostional Wildlife Refuge for the protection of the species. Nosara features three stunning beaches Playa Guiones, Playa Pelada, and Playa Ostional which are renowned for their surfing opportunities.

Playa Nosara has a great beach break with barreling waves and high peaks breaking left and right over a sandy bottom. It also has a shallow rocky reef that breaks to the left. Playa Pelada is situated on northern side. It has a rocky reef break which is quite inconsistent and crowded. The beach has many tide pools, caves and rocky coves. Playa Pelada is best surfed during northern swells at incoming high tides. North to Playa Nosara, Playa Ostional is found. It is a reef break best surfed at high tides. For a real and challenging wave action, Playa Guiones is a place to be. It boasts one of the most consistent beach breaks in Costa Rica. The waves are smooth and glassy offering an ideal base for novices and intermediate surfers. When the tide is low, the waves become steeper and faster perfect for short boarders while at mid to high tides, the waves are smooth luring plenty of long boarders.

Surf Camps in Nosara

Surfing is quite popular in Nosara which is why you will find a large number of surf schools and camps.
